Fed: Doctors stand by acne drug despite Akermanis claims

BRISBANE, Jan 14 AAP - Doctors expressed concern today about unsubstantiated claimsof a link between acne drug Roaccutane and depression, saying teenagers on the medicationcould be caused unwarranted anxiety.
Brisbane Lions AFL star Jason Akermanis has warned teenagers to avoid the drug or facea rapidly deteriorating lifestyle.
But Australian Medical Association Queensland president Russell Stitz said today studieshad consistently failed to establish any correlation between Roaccutane and adverse mentalhealth effects.
