NSW: Man s leg almost severed by rotary hoe

SYDNEY, April 24 AAP - A man's leg was almost severed by a rotary hoe, an ambulance
spokesman said today.

The 26-year-old from Leppington, in Sydney's west, was gardening in his yard at 10.30am
AEST when the plastic sheet he was standing on got caught in his rotary hoe, the spokesman
said.

He said the man's leg was drawn into the hoe's blades, which almost severed his lower right leg.

Ambulance paramedics treated him on the scene before he was taken to Liverpool Hospital
by NRMA CareFlight in a serious but stable condition.
